This causes problems. When my Courier modem wakes up, it assumes 2400 baud. When Qdial sends its initialization string, it isn't correctly received if it is set to dial at another speed. The result? No dialing, and Qdial hangs, even version 1.2 that "works" with the Mac Plus. It ought to be possible to send the correct initialization string. For example, no matter how the modem is configured, typing "at" makes it adjust to the baud rate of the terminal emulator program. So, if I want Qdial to run, I first run a terminal emulator program, adjust its baud rate, then type "at". This configures the modem. I quit the terminal emulator, then run Qdial. Everything works fine. --Gordon Hamachi
