Could someone please > give me the protocal for starting a new mod group ? Okay. Step one: DON'T JUST START A NEW GROUP! Step two: Instead; Either have people mail "votes" to you either supporting or screaming (typically) about the new group, Start a suitable mailing list (the method I prefer) and wait until the volume is suitable, Start a group on your machine (after local voting) and see how it goes. Step three: watch yourself... As a member of HP Labs, one of the so-called backbone sites on the network, I can guarantee that we'll look quite askance at lots of stuff going through our system dealing with the 520 - in a nutshell, why should we pay for some- thing that we can't possibly profit by? It's also doubt- full that a lot of HP engineers have STs (we're all sooo rich that we have our own Bobcat 20 systems, right? :-) This argument will hold true for just about any large system on the network... I refer you to a note posted in net.news.group about the cost to major companies of large notes files... Step four: moderate it You seem to have this covered. Good. Also, try to avoid the infinite re-post syndrome... Any other thoughts and/or feedback is welcome. -- Dave Taylor taylor@hplabs
