However, at some point in the terminal emulation process, the 8th bit is forced to zero and the characters in the range 128-255 are thus mapped into those in the range 0-127. This is rather annoying for those of us who need additional characters (french set, mathematical symbols, etc). I'd be happy if somebody knew a way around this ... E.
