Does that allow getty to sit active on a port and allow using the port as an out device as well? What I want to accomplish is to have a dialout line also be a dial in line with login prompt, etc. Unfortunately it isn't obvious to me how to do it. My attempts have resulted in the login prompt looping back in on me as any time anything comes in the port getty says 'login'. Is there an elegant way or must one write a script to alter ttys, kill the sucker, use it , reverse the process etc? I know I'm slow, but I try to be smooth to make up for it. hurf sheldon plasma studies cornell university hurf@ionvax.tn.cornell.edu
