I haven't started using sockets on the masscomp yet, but I will shortly. Sockets always seem to be hard to make work at first ... I've used UDP/IP (unreliable datagram) sockets under 4.2 successfully on VAXen, and used select() with no problem. Are you using streams, with the client/server model? thanks strick -- -- henry strickland or -- the clouds project { akgua allegra hplabs inhp4 } -- computer science / georgia tech !gatech!strick -- atlanta ga 30332 or !gatech!gt-stratus!strick
