	After some time, several postings to this forum, and many helpful
responses, I finally know why SET HOST/DTE/DIAL doesn't work for me.  Looking
at the VMS v4.4 Release Notes, New and Changed Features, on page 2-21, section
2.3.10.4, it says "SET HOST/DTE/DIAL" does not work with the DMF-32
controller."  Sure enough, other places I know of that are using it run DZ-11s
and we only have the DMF-32. 
	There is a problem with responses to a carrier, and a suggestion for a
patch to DTE_DF03.MAR for a workaround.  No comments on how to patch
DTE_DF112.EXE without access to sources, though, and we have a DF112 and not a
DF03.  Oh well, at least now I know (sigh)... 	--Bob Sutterfield
