What kind of throughput are you actually experiencing? What kind of job mix do you have? We are thinking about replacing two 780's with an 8300. The job mix between the two machines is about 30% batch jobs (mostly running stat packages like SPSS and SAS) and the rest interactive with a hefty part of the interactive being edit-compile-link-run done by students. Would a flock of uVAX II's be a better replacement? Any informed opinions? ---------------- Marty Sasaki uucp: harvard!sasaki Harvard University Science Center arpa: sasaki@harvard.harvard.edu One Oxford Street bitnet: sasaki@harvunxh Cambridge, MA 02138 phone: 617-495-1270
