To everyone out there who answered my query, in public or private, about
the best way of treating a pointer containing a malloc()ed address as the
head of an array, I say thank you.  I also apologize to those who my mailed
thanks could not reach, such as Chris Torek (ihnp4 isn't talking too well
with seismo it seems; I just got the bounce message today from my attempt
to mail thanks a week ago).
