Agree 100%. Again, to have to shuffle floppies when one has a hard disk
is absurd. Such changes would, of course, require that the boot ROMs
do the AutoConfig, rather than the Kickstart code. Doesn't seem to me
that it would be hard to create a downward-compatible ROM that does
this.... <rogue>
