I once interfaced 2K of ram in the character generator (ROM) socket of my aging Pet 2001. Since ROM sockets generally: (A) don't have a write line (wasn't a problem w/ the 6502) (B) assume static memory (e.g. no timing constraints or refresh) (C) generally don't provide any timing anyway Doing a similar thing to the Amiga WCS probably isn't worth it's weight in peanuts... you really don't gain all that much. With my little custom ram-character generator, I had to tap lines off the processor as well as use all the lines available on the rom-socket... Either ROM based, or WCS based, but not both (though it's obvious by now I'm all for keeping the current WCS scheme) -Matt "Gunsmoke?"
