I have not used the autoanswer feature. I have used the I, too, have the Avatex 1200. It is a remarkable value that does exactly what it is advertised to do. BUT, I do have one minor complaint. It does not have a built in audio monitor. The Hayes modem I use at work has this function and once used to it... It does allow a phone to be connected to it, so through carefull handling, I can monitor the beginning of the call without *hanging up on myself :-)* A couple of times I have called a worng number by accident. If I hadn't been monitoring, I would have had an irrate housewife complaining about crank calls. Disclaimer: I speak only for myself
