Also, I'm using System 3.1.1, but I don't think that matters. Sorry about that - I didn't realize that 3.0 was not standard with the latest system release... Command-F still works for just getting the document description in all systems. For those not using the new LaserWriter/Laser Prep, here's what I've noticed about it (we use it on an old LaserWriter, not a Plus): Several bugs in the smoothing algorithm have been fixed (but not all) - Printing smoothed bitmaps (especially scaled ones) sometimes caused the LW to crash, but not any more. Also doesn't clip the the edges of the bitmap too far. Supports all of the new LW+ functions, including A4 paper size, packed arrays in PostScript, paper prefeed, and the built in fonts. Supports automatic downloadable fonts. Seems to print a little faster (but I could be imagining it). Supports inclusion of raw PostScript from within any Mac document (like from MacWrite) using a "special" font - see the latest MacTutor for a really neat article on this (I haven't tried it yet). You should be able to get the new Laser stuff from any dealer - it comes on the Printer Installer, for sure. cheers, -m- (mkb@rover.ri.cmu.edu)
