He is keen to be able to give clients some idea of what they will be charged before the job is done. He has heard that some pages can take 12 hours to process and print (!) and, if this is true, he thought "time taken to process and print" would be a reasonable way to charge for part of his service. It seems to me that it should be possible to write a program that can give a good estimate of processing time given any particular document. Has anyone done something like this? Or, if anyone is working in the real world, what is your charging structure? Have you experienced documents that take many hours to print? -- Derek Austin ACSnet: derek@gucis.oz Computing Support Unit ARPA: derek%gucis.oz@seismo.css.gov Griffith University CSNET: derek@gucis.oz Nathan 4111 JANET: gucis.oz!derek@ukc Australia PHONE: +61 7 275 7682 VIATEL: 737676700 UUCP: {seismo, hplabs, mcvax, ukc, nttlab}!munnari!gucis.oz!derek
