Message-ID: <152@nbc1.UUCP> Date: Wed, 25-Jun-86 18:35:50 EDT Article-I.D.: nbc1.152 Posted: Wed Jun 25 18:35:50 1986 Date-Received: Fri, 27-Jun-86 05:15:18 EDT Distribution: net Organization: NBC Computer Imaging, New York, NY Lines: 19 Xref: linus net.micro.pc:8458 net.unix-wizards:15537 I'm curious as to how one would access the features of, say, an Enhanced Graphics Adapter or a mouse from a PC-based UNIX or UNIX-like operating system such as Xenix, Coherent, Venix, etc. What I'm looking for is just a summary of the programming model for these devices, and an idea of how well integrated they are into the system. We want to use a PC as a control terminal, using color graphics and a mouse for interaction, but we would prefer to avoid MS-DOS and instead use UNIX. I'm concerned that any PC implementation of UNIX may have weak or non-existent access to add-on features of the PC. Please respond by mail. I will summarize and post results. Thanks. -- Andrew Siegel, N2CN NBC Computer Imaging, New York, NY philabs!nbc1!abs (212)664-5776
