More often than not I select messages that are brand new rather than messages that are re: responses, simply to avoid the long, drawn-out inclusions of previous messages that are so often found in re: response messages. A lot of the problem here is related to the fact that no program, apparently other than Notesfiles, groups responses with the original article. Without this facility, a news session is difficult because all sorts of dfferent sub-conversations and sub-topics are going on and we have to wade through all that to find the sub-topics we want in any given news group. The solution I would like to see is for 'rn' to be modified so that it groups responses under the original article a la Notesfile. Barring the existence of the original article, all responses should be grouped under a dummy article that has as much information about the missing article as can be automatically gleaned from inspection of the responses.
