I agree that more sophisticated software won't help much.  The
system has developed far enough that the people are as weak a
component as the software.  When unscrupulous or intolerant
administrators commit abuses, we can always invoke the drastic
punishment of excommunicating them.

While the "talk." idea is useful, it's only a patch.  I foresee
a time when every newsgroup has a different feeder set of nodes.
