I upgraded to 3.0 and recompiled without problems. However, I am unable to dump the .fmt file with initex. This is what happens: ---------------- % initex This is TeX, Version 2.0 for Berkeley UNIX (INITEX) ** plain \dump (/usr/lib/tex/macros/plain.tex ---------------- and it hangs ... forever. 'ps' does say it is running. The old 2.2 initex binary still works. It produces all the verbage: --------------- % initex_2.2 ** plain \dump (/usr/lib/tex/macros/plain.tex Preloading the plain format: codes, registers, parameters, fonts, ... etc -------------- But we do want to use the 3.0 version so it maintains compatibility with Sun-3's. Has something changed under Sun 3.0 to screw initex up? thanks, David Melman System Development Corp. Santa Monica Ca. 213-820-4111 Ext:5367
