Because of disc fragmentation we were achieving only 40-50% of the data transfer rate possible from disc. To overcome this problem we have developed a Contiguous File System which effectively increases the data transfer rate to 80-90% of maximum. We think this may confer considerable benefits in a number of areas and would appreciate information as to how it might help our network colleagues.
