We have installed over 75 workstations (mostly MicroVAX-II's running Unix 4.2/4.3) and exist as a department totally on these system. We have no "mainframe" or "central" computer. I would be interested in knowing of other sites that are doing this or planning to do something similar. Our users have a wide variety of backgrounds. The general computing facility is used mostly for mail, bboards, document preparation, etc. Projects use project machines that may or may not be connected to the department computing facility. Please respond directly to me and I'll repost a summary. Thanks J. Ray Scott jrs@sei.cmu.edu
