If you're on a UN*X host, do a 'man ftp|lpr' and read how to do file transfer protocol (ftp) transactions from your host. ftp is good for downloading the most current version of the info-mac archives. here's the syntax: ftp> LS MY.MAC.LIST (your response is all-caps) 'LS ' commands a directory listing of info-mac to be placed in your local file 'MY.MAC.LIST'. to get a file downloaded to your host computer (mit-bug?), use the ftp GET command: ftp> GET BILLIARDS.HQX.3 BILL.FILE this puts a copy of the binhex mac file 'BILLIARDS.HQX.3' in your local file 'BILL.FILE'. .hex, .hcx and .hqx files are special ascii files which must be translated using jacques lempereur's 'binhex' program. this program is shareware and available from boston mac users group. it must be run to transform binhex files into executables. hope this helps. good luck. chris perry (cperry@mitre.arpa)
