There is, perhaps, a tiny shred of merit in using good quality wire between a pre- and power- amplifier unit. Some of the preamps that I've seen have output impedances as high as 1 Kohm. Cheap cables I've seen can have around 100 pF per meter. Given the cable operating in parallel with the 1 Kohm output, that should put the high freq. 3 dB point at 10 MHz or so. So much for your high-end response! I think the Radio Shack (did I really type that?) video dubbing kit cable makes a nice stereo interconnect and is also quite reasonable (read that low in capacitance) for a good video interconnect. The best thing is that it costs about $3/meter and comes with some neet F --> phono adapter ends. The biggest offense of cabling is when you let it sit untouched for about six years, and the phono plug on your tuntable input corrodes and becomes a diode. Of course shuch ill behavior is easily countered by occasionally unplugging and replugging the cables on one's system. This sure is a lot cheeper than paying $115 to get specially plated cable-ends!! (presuming the wire has no audible effect!). Linear crystal, OFC, you say? Didn't I also hear you remark that you were signing up for the Javellin catch at the GoodWill games?
