Lines: 23 Keywords: cheap, Toshiba, Magnavox Summary: specific models being considered Our local discount warehouse (Price Club) stocks two CD players: Toshiba XRJ9, $135 Magnavox FD2040 or 41, $145 I'm looking for a portable -- not battery-operated, just that I can easily move from stereo to stereo. The Toshiba fits the bill, as does the original Sony Discman, which I saw advertised for $170. I'm sure this has been hashed before, but does anyone have any specific reasons why I should or should not buy any of the three machines listed above? I'm looking for fidelity (flat top end, no wow & flutter or blatant IM) and something that will last at least 2 years (till I buy a CD-I), and won't destroy my CD's. Features not important. And I'm not going to spend > $200, so if that buys me trash, I'm looking for the best-quality trash I can find. :-) I'll accept suggestions for other machines that meet these requirements... -- Joel West (619) 457-9681 CACI, Inc.
