This file (/etc/acucap) contains the info which is used to activate the modem and dial a given number. A set of generic dialing routines has been developed which use the database (tip and uucp have the generic routines in them). If a modem is not found in the acucap database the internal database is still searched. Currently only a handful of modems are supported in this way (dec df112, dec df224, dec df03, hayes, ventel, vadic). If you are using Ultrix 1.2 and have an entry for your favorite modem mail it to me and I'll see it gets into the database. Larry decvax!lp
