I've been assigned the job of hooking a Wyse 50 terminal to a uVAX II running VMS. As far as I can tell, there's no way to tell VMS how to use it as anything more than a dumb terminal. UNIX will let you define any reasonable (or even unreasonable) terminal via termcap, and have full use of the cursor keys and terminal features. VMS only supports (expensive) DEC terminals. I'm posting this mostly because I hope I'm wrong, and there really is a (reasonable) way to tell VMS about foreign terminals. I've looked through the manuals, but it looks like I would have to have DCL source or some such to do this. Another problem is a Genicom laser printer that doesn't want to recognize DEC escape codes, but it's lower priority. I realize that a Wyse 85 terminal does excellent VT100/200 emulation, but I have to work with a 50, I don't have a choice. -- John ("Spam") Rehwinkel C3, Inc. ..!seismo!decuac!c3pe!spam
