Maybe there should be a standard set so that you dont have to relearn the keystrokes when the system administer at your site decides to change from one emacs to another! Some of the standardization may come from ZMACS, maybe, which is pretty much the standard on lisp machines (huh! Xerox?). Of course, ^S/^Q etc problems will have to be sorted out. (I know in some emacs you can bind a key to have "gobble-char" (or something similar) which basically boils down to a no-op.) I don't know if any effort on standardization has taken place before; its about time one did. If any particular implementation does not use the standardized key bindings, then we should boycott it.
