This emulator, VIP (for VI Package), was orginally written for Gosling Emacs about 3 years ago. The version for Gosling Emacs was very incomplete because Mock Lisp is less powerful than Emacs Lisp. The version for GNU Emacs is, I believe, useful for those who have experiences in Vi and wish to use Vi under powerful GNU Emacs environment. A Vi Emulator for GNU Emacs was posted about a month ago. The emulator is called Evi (Emulated or Emacsed vi). In spite of this, I post this article as I believe there are several good points in my package too. VIP works more like Vi than Evi in several respects. If YOU are interested in trying VIP please send me a mail to the following address: sato@su-russell.arpa I will post the code if there are enough interests. ** masahiko **
