Your address header says Mountain View, California. I've lived there for years, as have a few of my friends, and never heard of things like this happening to anyone I know. I keep a 12 guage standing next to a few shells in my bedroom, but in the 4 years or so since I got it, I haven't had any cause (even suspicious noises, and I'm a *very* light sleeper) to pick it up.
