Message-ID: <524@ubvax.UUCP> Date: Sun, 3-Aug-86 01:51:07 EDT Article-I.D.: ubvax.524 Posted: Sun Aug 3 01:51:07 1986 Date-Received: Wed, 6-Aug-86 08:47:57 EDT Organization: Ungermann-Bass, Inc., Santa Clara, CA Lines: 22 Keywords: gopher Apologies if this has been covered recently: We seem to be having a little trouble lately with either a gopher or a mole. The little devil enjoys burrowing underground a lot and, it seems, coming up for air every now and then. Each morning we find a few new spots of fresh dirt, piled on top of what used to be grass -- the tuft is pushed aside. The ground is soft in numerous places, usually within a radius of about 10 feet of his fresh holes which are a few feet apart, and you can crush these tunnels with a heavy foot. I used a shovel to lay 2 gopher traps, as recommended by a salesman at a local garden center. The tunnel was exposed at a depth of about 6 inches, and both traps were layed according to instructions. I then put the displaced sod on top of the hole. NO LUCK! We still find new holes and fresh tunnels a week later. (I've checked and re-layed the trap a few times.) Should I give it more time? Take a different approach? I have two toddlers I'd rather not expose to chemicals, if possible, but can try something heavy duty while they're away for the next few weeks.
