I pretty much use only the features in K&R, minus bitfields (altho I have found good use for them to avoid padding in structures) and unions (well, rarely). The extensions include enums, structure passing/returning/assignment, void, and a few preprocessor goodies. While these are useful, they are more like power windows on an automobile.
