That seems to be IBM's >internal network which links their sites around the world. There is a gateway into VNET from BITNET, but its' use is extremely limited. Only a handfull of sites on the VNET side are allowed to use the gateway, and the user on the VNET side must authorize a 'virtual circuit' before any communication can take place. IBM seems to be paranoid about the gateway. I have often wished they would allow our local IBM representatives to send/receive mail to/from us (it would save a lot of phone-tag), but no one who has the power to make such a change has responded. I plan to submit a requirement at SHARE 67 requesting more open access. (SHARE is an IBM user group.) For more information, contact Bill Rubin (WGRCU@CUNYVM.BITNET). Mr. Rubin is listed as the contact person for VNET. Mike Sorsen (SORSEN@WUVMD.BITNET or sorsen@wucfua.uucp)
