I have a real simple need and I can't quite figure out what emulators might be good matches for me: I have a VT100 sitting here on my desk next to my Amiga. I need an emulator that makes my Amiga at least as good a terminal as the VT100 is so I can get rid of the VT100. To wit: full support of the character set (inlcuding those funny 'graphics mode chars, like the box-drawing-set) Will keep up at 2400 baud. does ^s/^q flow control (together with some kind of local 'no scroll' facility) Supports the keypad (including the ANSI 'applications mode' sequences) is 24x80 I also need some kind of simple 'file capture' 'file send' capability. (the fancy transfer-protocols are all well and good, but I could survive just fine with just being able to suck up and send out normal text files). Beyond this, of course, the vista of features is near infinite, but that's all secondary: a program can't be a good anything for me if it can't first be a good *terminal*. My local dealers seem only to carry MaxiComm and Online! and for some reason I have the impression that neither meets my criteria (although I haven't dove through their specs and so I don't know for sure, I at least *can* do that -- for the other half dozen or more I can't even easily check it all out in detail before I order-by-mail, so any help you can provide will be appreciated!)
