Message-ID: <1218@mhuxo.UUCP> Date: Mon, 21-Jul-86 15:55:36 EDT Article-I.D.: mhuxo.1218 Posted: Mon Jul 21 15:55:36 1986 Date-Received: Wed, 23-Jul-86 01:15:35 EDT Distribution: na Organization: AT&T Bell Laboratories, Murray Hill Lines: 22 We have been seeing an unusual problem with our Atari 520ST lately that someone may know about. Our 520ST has been upgraded by the dealer to 1 Mb and TOS in ROM. We also have a double sided disk drive rather than the standard single sided drive. For certain disks, the console appears to reset itself while reading a disk. This reset is equivalent to manually depressing the reset button on the back of the console (i.e., the monitor blinks and the disk drive begins reading the disk again). I have not yet established any pattern to this problem. It happens on some copy protected game disks and on disks with TOS files (e.g., the TOS disk). This problem is intermittent, and since it doesn't happen consistently, I suspect the problem is mechanical (disk drive timing, crossed wiring in the console). How could poor drive timing cause the console to reset itself? Any suggestions? Email would be appreciated. Thank you. Patrick Wyant AT&T Bell Laboratories Naperville, IL *!ihnp4!{mhuxo,ihwld}!gjphw
