Where is it? BITNET has such a server, but I doubt that they are willing to supply other nets with information. Well, it may depend on the volume of traffic. > But if it's not true, it sounds like a good idea. This does not seem feasable on USENET, as I can't see where the financing is supposed to be coming from. Besides, not only would you have an unpredictable load on the server-machine, you'd also impact all the neighboring machines with the increased mail-load. And given that you are talking (large) source, files, I doubt this would be considered acceptable. > Anyone else have any ideas? yes, join a Mac-users group, local or national. Check some bulletin board systems in your area which may have as much or more material online than here on the net. There is also a commercial outfit which sells PD-disks by mail at a reasonable price. And forget the idea that on USENET it is feasable to have net-wide file-servers. Maybe within a company, city, or even region a limited file-serving capability is feasable. It would be interesting to know if the software exists already .... is anyone aware of something like it?
