The specifications are below, your comments would be >much appreciated. I have one of these drives and it is fully Mac (and MacPlus) compatible. It is NOT the same drive as Apple's, however, and the seek time is somewhat slower. However, the drive overall is quieter than even the Apple 800K drives. That is, the seek sound is less than the Apple drive, though the read/write motor can also be heard; the average is pretty quiet. I would guess the seek speed to be about 10% slower than the Apple 800K, though faster than the Apple 400K. The drive comes with a manual eject button. DON'T USE IT; THE SYSTEM GETS VERY CONFUSED!!! A nice feature is the cable for the drive is a reasonable length, allowing you to use the drive on either side of the Mac without any interference problems. A problem I will have to solve eventually is that it appears difficult to open the drive box to do a good head cleaning. I would recommend a cleaning-disk regimen. Warp Nine gives a 30-day trial period. I paid less than $250 for mine. -Brian Diehm Tektronix, Inc. (But the drive was for home use, so this does not constitute an endorsement from Tektronix. . .)
