Although I know nothing of the implementation, I have studied its behavior somewhat and think that it does not do immediate write-through. By "immediate write-through" I mean that data destined to be written to disk will not necessarily be written right away. For instance, if I set a large cache and then launch Red Ryder and receive a file, the incoming data will not be written out until the file is closed (at the end of the transfer).
