   Just got a pleasing letter today from ADAPSO announcing the
   demise of a hardware-based copy-protection mechanism.

	Dear Interested Party:

	   This is to advise you formally that ADAPSO has withdrawn its
	Proposal for Software Authorization System Standards.  ADAPSO
	took this action after polling almost 1500 persons and determining
	that there is insufficient support to warrant the promulgation
	of a voluntary, industry-wide standard.  We thank you for your
	interest and concern.
