Message-ID: <9926@cgl.ucsf.edu.ucsfcgl.UUCP> Date: Tue, 29-Jul-86 19:40:14 EDT Article-I.D.: cgl.9926 Posted: Tue Jul 29 19:40:14 1986 Date-Received: Thu, 31-Jul-86 02:10:39 EDT Reply-To: harrison@cgl.ucsf.edu.UUCP (Peter Harrison%MIS) Organization: Computer Graphics Laboratory, UCSF Lines: 20 Since the City and County of San Francisco have passed an ordinance ordering divestiture of any dealings with S. Africa, we can not buy IBM equipment. There are a number of plug compatible terminals that we could substitute, and also controllers. Telex seems to have terminals and directly plug compatible controllers, but they may not be able to meet the non S. African requirement. We hear that many of the other plug compatibles are not quite compatible. Please let me know of any experience you have, or if you know of anyone who has studied the problem of purchasing compatible equipment, let me know of them. I will summarize information to the net. P.S. Where else should this be posted? Peter Harrison UUCP: ucbvax!ucsfcgl!harrison ARPA: ucsfcgl!harrison@berkeley.arpa Phone: (415) 355-2149 US Mail: 419 Roberts Rd., Pacifica, CA 94044-3246
