I gather that net is to be split into seven groups, each of which has a fairly cryptic name, but what do they all mean? I have done as requested by <2255@cbosgd.UUCP> as I can see that this will do no harm at the purely *mechanical* level, but what about the *philosophy* behind it? Is my lack of knowledge due to the fact that I don't receive a crucial newsgroup? (Yes, I know, That's *my* fault. But some of us have to battle with British Telecom, who still haven't installed my PSS line 3 months after they received by request. I have to make do with a 300 baud exchange line which drops out on average every hour or so.) Incidentally, the splitting of "distribution" from "newsgroup" is a concept that I hadn't thought of before, and is obviously vital to the success of this scheme. However, "postnews" carefully takes the "world" distribution, and rewrites it as "net". This should, I presume, be modified to rewrite "world" as "world net" in the short term, and removed altogether in the long term? Are there any more lurking 'gotcher's? ----------------------------------------------------------------- |Steve Lademann |Phone: 44 727 59292 x326 | |Marconi Instruments Ltd|UUCP : ...mcvax!ukc!hrc63!miduet!steve | |St. Albans AL4 0JN |NRS : steve@uk.co.gec-mi-ate.mifnet | |Herts.
