The two drives look so similar that you can't tell them apart without counting the platters. Same front panel, same base, same motor, same card cage, same actuator, same locking mechanisms, ... Is it feasible to convert the 2284 into a 2298? At minimum it would involve changing the HDA and most of the PC boards; is there a kit for this? Is it cheaper than buying a new drive?
