Summary: Take the pill and live longer?

My wife, the doctor, and I were discussing birth control
methods and he suggested the pill.  After hearing about
the cancer risks, we were concerned about the side effects.

The Doctor said that the latest studies indicate that
the pill REDUCES your risk of certain types of cancer.

What are the problems with the older studies, and what
was changed in the newer studies?
