Mother Jones is an infamous muckraking magazine published monthly by the
Foundation for National Progress.  FNP is a tax exempt educational organ-
ization.  The IRS claimed that MJ owed $750,000 in back taxes, which was
bargained down to $390,000.  Considering that MJ consistently loses about
$200,000 a year, this makes little sense.  MJ had to spend over $120,000
in legal costs between 1980 and 1983 because of the IRS harassment.  It
ended late 1983 when the IRS ruled that MJ was indeed nonprofit.
