I believe that the JLASER/JRAM 3 combination, together with the DVIJLA
package from Personal TeX (actually Textset in Ann Arbor, Michigan)
might fit your requirements, and be faster too boot...

We have such a beast at Xytec (actually, a QMS Kiss) and are in love 
with it...ie. kiss it regularly with complex TeX output...
