This resulted in the motor complaining, and the console terminal saying "motor failure" rather than any "paper jam" indication (nor was there any on the engine itself). Further, the paper tray could not easily be removed until the printer was opened (as for cleaning. I mean that baby was FULL!). All was well when a rational amount of paper was in the tray. So if you see this problem, check the paper tray before you panic.
