The EMULEX V4.3 patches will work under VMS V4.4.  They require a simple 
modification. I have the patches here. The only patching required is if you
(like we) emulate an "expanded" drive as a boot device. I upgraded to V4.4 last
week and it works fine.  I can mail you the patches if you want. 
 
The patch fixes I have are for expanded RM emulation.  I emulate an
expanded-rm80 on my fuji eagle.  I have the emulex sc7000 and vmaster on my
11/780.
