There was an error in my last message regarding the procedure the system 
manager could invoke to clear up the mail counts.  The procedure resides
on the directory SYS$EXAMPLES, not SYS$UPDATE.  The name of the procedure
is still MAILUAF.COM however.  Sorry for the incorrect posting.
