I understand this is frustrating, but they have to bear in mind that an individual might for his own reasons decide to give the cops, or a particular cop, a hard time. However, it's much less likely that such a person could convince a second person to perjure themselves just to hassle the cops -- especially if they're questioned separately in a hearing. The moral?
