I have a few gripes, though. I use this modem as both a dialout and a dialup. Often it gets confused and will not respond in command mode; at the same time, it gets wedged off-hook and blocks dialups also. Cycling power fixes this, but that's a pain when no one's near the office on a weekend like this. The period between seizures ranges from 2 days to about a week. In fairness, though, a Courier I set up for a friend is also used (very lightly) for dialup/dialout and hasn't had such problems. X6 mode sometimes attempts to dial before the dial tone comes in. I simply use X5 mode instead. Also, I haven't figured out how I'm going to deal with "CONNECT 1200" when I switch to Honey Danber. I may simply have to find a modem capable of locking its serial interface speed. Subjectively, the Courier I have at home behaves well, but seems to give worse MCI service at 1200 bps than my old Hayes did. I get a lot of {'s during the day, which I rarely saw with the Hayes. Evenings seem much better, though. I echo Rick Adams's complaint that so many modems have a bulky power plug-and-adapter combination that defeats attempts to plug several modems into a normal power strip. For the price I got ($350, less than our Hayes 1200's cost when we got them) I'm actually quite satisfied with it. I do get the feeling that I may be able to better performance on other makes. -- Romain Kang, Pyramid Technology Corporation US Mail: 10 Woodbridge Center Drive, Woodbridge, NJ 07095 Ma Bell: (201) 750-2626 UUCPnet: {allegra,cmcl2,mirror,pyramid,topaz}!pyrnj!romain "Eggheads unite!
