   I, a New Englander, will (*horrors!*) be moving to Phoenix.
  I have never been there, nor anyplace west of Texas.  Please,
  someone, ANYONE, help me!  
     a) I have a 'For Rent' book that lists places & prices, but to
       my Boston sensibilities these are incredibly low rates for such
       beautiful housing.  What's the deal?
     b) What is the best method of transport if I were to live in Tempe?
     c) Are the pay rates comparable to say, Boston or NYC?
   
   I'd LOVE some insiders' info: there must be people on the net who live
