Such information would be useful only for querying a registry, and I've never had to use anything like this in the system I've been using for 2 years (EAN). In fact, the X.400 networks in Canada, Norway, Sweden, Italy and Switzerland all use domain-based addressing exclusively, and gatewaying is absolutely transparent (even to .uucp, .edu, .com, .bitnet and some of .uk). What's more, I've even checked if there were 'lamy's registered in Switzerland and Canada and got the answer in 20 minutes (with both registries 3500miles away from me). I'm all for standards. -- Jean-Francois Lamy AI Group, Dept of Computer Science CSNet: lamy@ai.toronto.edu University of Toronto EAN: lamy@ai.toronto.cdn Toronto, ON, Canada M5S 1A4 UUCP: lamy@utai.uucp
