Call 800-638-8369. When you get the CONNECT or ON-LINE message from your modem, type three H characters (must be upper case, no RETURN needed) to sync baud rates then wait until you see a 'U#=' from GEnie (User Number Equals?). Type the following: ^RVJM11999,GENIE where ^R is a control-R (which tells the local node to echo) and is a carriage return. You can omit the control-R if you prefer to do your own local echo (the node defaults to that). You will then be able to run a free demo, and sign up if you wish. ] I have an ad for GEnie in front of me and it says to set your modem to half duplex and at the U#= prompt, type XJM11943,GENIE I understand what is said about the ^R but why is the rest different? Also, if I do sign up, is there a place to type the ^R so that I can stay in full duplex instead of changing to half? Steven Dawson SJDMK@UNO.BITNET
